Multiple Sclerosis - Demyelinating Diseases

MS has taught me to listen to my body

It is an autoimmune disease, a chronic inflammation of the Central Nervous System (brain and spinal cord) when the lymphocytes "attack" myelin, the substance that insulates and protects the nerve fibers, and destroys it resulting in the disorder of the transmission of messages from the brain to the body and vice versa, and hence occur the symptoms associated with various functions of the Central Nervous System occur.

The disease affects mainly young people aged 20-40 years old. Women are more likely to be affected than men in a 3: 1 ratio.
